In 1 year, Podcasting will:

- Deliver standard radio shows.

- Deliver (short) messages to groups of friends, colleagues, family, members of a club, etc.

- Distribute syndicated radio program items to ‘real’ radio stations.

- Deliver video clips.

- Deliver status updates.

- Capture meetings and distribute it to interested parties.

- Distribute class lectures to all students. (Except for those who were absent ;)

- Distribute demo songs.

- Distribute political/ campaign speeches.

- Deliver content to regular over-the-air radio shows!

(Perhaps coupled with a ‘smart’ playlist system.)

- Be a tool for an adventure game.

- Do something nobody has thought of.

What do you imagine?

My idea (more for myself than for the world, but why not eh?) is to post an audio journal that others can listen to if they are so morbidly inclined to do so :) Not grand, but something anyone can do.

Well, I’m using it alreaady to distribute a monthly mixtape. Rather than the zipping it up, emailing it out, downloading it, unzipping and importing, it sould all be a seamless blur, arriving around the turn of the month on your device with no effort required. Fire and forget!

good work podcasting community - well done all round

I would love to pull video content down to my TiVo or a TiVo like device. I think that this could be the future of television distribution. Scan what is available, click on the link, and the TiVo pulls down the latest shows everyday for you, no time grid, just content on demand.

In 1 year the adult industry will be making money with podcasting, that’s for sure.

Nice outline! Several of things are already happening … and I’d guess that timeline could be reduced to 6 months and most, if not all, of those things will be done.

Another thing (and this just happened last night) is the integration of podcasting and webcasting which means podcasts are automatically being picked up and played on the Whole Wheat Radio webcast. www.wholewheatradio.org/jbb/comments.php?id=P227_0_1_0

I’m particularly excited to dream about podcasting breaking down the barriers for webcasters to getting into receiving devices like a wireless iPod which will put webcasting in the same league as satellite radio and terrestrial radio! www.wholewheatradio.org/jbb/comments.php?id=P214_0_1_0
