I will buy a drink for the first person to come up with a more stable studio setup than the one I described here using Quicktime Broadcaster and the Apple Lossless codec in a bar of my choice.

Update 2004-10-26: I was thinking about an all software solution, on one computer of course but I’ll accept any solution. (Not all at the same time now ;-))

(Offer valid until November 30, 2004. Only the actual price of the beverage covered ;-)

Unfortunately, I ran into this problem, when I was just trying to record audio. However, the problem did maifest itself for me after I played around with recording audio and video, and then switched back to just audio recoding.

Thanks for the addition. I haven’t encountered this yet. I’ll try to do a stress test. (Maybe it works fine if you just record audio?)

One of the problems with Quicktime broadcaster is the periodic “disc is almost full” error, described here

http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-46107

a workaround is detailed here

This being the case, I’m not sure QTB is the optimal set up just yet.
